About Me

My name is Úna-Minh Kavanagh (Úna-Minh is my first name) and I’m an award-winning multimedia content creator, games producer and author from Co. Kerry, Ireland. I have a BA in Irish and Journalism from Dublin City University and a Professional Cert. in Digital Policy from UCD, and I’ve been constantly curious my whole life.
I’m an experienced remote worker. I’m a story hunter, and I find great stories.
I run the Irish good news website WeAreIrish.ie, have scripted, filmed and edited Irish language and video game videos for Patreon supporters, and I manage online communities. I co-run the Facebook group ‘Journalism and New Media Jobs’, and the Irish language Discord Verified community ‘Craic le Gaeilge’.
As of 2026, I’ve written 3 books: Anseo (2019, New Island Books), DIY Gaeilge (eBook), DIY Gaeilge Part Two (eBook), and I co-authored Experience Ireland (2022, Lonely Planet). My piece on the realities of video games and production appeared in CTRL: Essays on Video Games (2026, Lilliput Press) and an essay on migration, identity and food appeared in Bia!Zine Vol. 3 (2026)
I spearheaded the team that translated the popular games, Among Us, VVVVVV and Crowded.Folllowed, Axyz, into Irish. More on my work in localisation here.
I was a member of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Anti-Racism Committee in Ireland for years.
I was the Culture Night Trailblazer for Munster and the Irish Language 2020 and a member of the Audience Committee for TG4 2020 – 2025. I won the Emerging Talent award at the Imirt Irish Games Awards 2026.
